Yet again another article on women going  into  their old age severely economically disdavantged because they have far less Superannuation  than men. It time to do something about it. Knowing it is happening is not enough.

Greg Vines speaks on the topic Work and Labour Standards in the Time of Uncertainty: 13/12/2013


The Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law, Melbourne Law School and the Department of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Business and Economics are pleased to jointly host a seminar by Mr Greg Vines, Deputy Director-General of the International

Greg Vines will speak on the topic “Work and Labour Standards in a Time of Uncertainty”.

Today, the maintenance and extension of international labour standards face may challenges and threats.  These challenges and threats are found in both developed and developing countries, and include globalisation, the changing nature of work, increasingly disruptive technological change, great economic uncertainty.  These events are manifest in a degree of discord among social partners over what constitutes appropriate minimum standards that should be extended to all workers and workplaces around the world.  This seminar provides an overview of these debates around this issue and the future role of the ILO as the international institution with responsibility for establishing labour standards and working with national governments and the social partners to implement them.
