Making it fair – pay equity and associated issues related to increasing female participation in the workforce: Federal Government Report

The Australian Government has tabled  its response to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Employment and Workplace Relations report.

The Making it fair report suggests possible legislative and administrative reforms to improve pay equity between women and men, and outlines a strategy to achieve this. This includes recommendations to alter the Fair Work Act  to include gender equity when considering work of equal value and  setting up a discretionary fund to fund equal remuneration cases.

We will all need to keep watch to see what happens to this recommendations to see if recommendations become action or policy platforms. Something to look out for in the upcoming federal election.

For more information attached Government media release and the report.
